I have a flat philips tv with integrated freeview tuner which I have connected to an LiteOn DVD/HD recorder. Please could anyone help me with advice on recording from the digial tuner? The guide is not that helpful - just says make sure recorder is contacted by 'Ext 2' (which it is by Scart). However I still can't seemm able to tune the recorder to the digital output

  1. I had the same issue with my Sharp LC32GD8E with inbuilt freeview. The manual said almost the same as what you describe. The answer in the end is that you couldn't record freeview from any of the sockets on the TV, despite the manual hinting that it was possible. I solved the problem by getting one of the Thomson DTR16300 digital tv recorders. I can use the Sharp for normal freeview viewing, and use the Thomson for recording (sometimes 2 programs at once). Despite having to shell out £90, I couldn't recommend these any higher. Cracking pic quality too.
