I have had this expensive plasma TV for two years, three months. I paid $2200 for it at Sam's Club. I purchased a one year warranty two months later, in addition to the one year manufacturers warranty (ran out Feb. 6, 2008). Yesterday while watching the TV, the screen was consumed by 6 horizontal lines filling the vertical part of the screen. The second from bottom was crystal clear, the others had color pixelations. You could see the picture behind the pixelations. I contacted Phillips support and the tech ran me through unplugging the cable box and TV, then replugging them (to reset the CPUs). As soon as I told him the Menu was pixelated, he stopped and said his years of doing this phone support tells him it's the display (his approximation of cost: $1000 - $2000).I am quite pissed that I paid $1000 per year to watch a plasma TV. "It's new technology" said the tech. Well, I must be an a*s, because when I pay top-dollar for new technology, I expect to get my money's worth. Obviously, the price has come down on plasma TVs, but I can't justify (afford) to basically replace the TV portion of the case I now have or buy a new one. What's wrong with this picture? Don't I have a reasonable expectation that a $2200 TV will last more than 2 years, 3 months?Any suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime: BEWARE OF PHILLIPS ELECTRONICS...MINE IS PURE s**t!!!!!!!!!!
