Philly Cheesesteak near N State and W Wacker, Chicago?

Question

I moved here from Philly three weeks ago and I miss me some cheesesteak. Google Maps has been no help. I am willing to walk a maximum of one mile round trip (so half a mile each way) to get my delicious food, but if there's nothing within that distance, please let me know what's closest anyway so I can pick it up for dinner. Specialty place not necessary, although that would be awesome. Extra points if one of the places you mention has mushrooms. Help me out Chicagoans?

you should try a chicago italian beef and cheese but the best philly steak i have ever had was from poor boys on 1 st ave and rosavelt rd. in may wood or the best bareto place is on rosavelt rd just east of harlem ave in oak park the place is called inos

Hi!  I think there was a couple of places around Chicago Avenue and State/Rush streets?  I did my Masters at Loyola buildings there.  I used to work at Chicago Tribune.  I don't go in the area much.  But - there was this fast food place on Chicago Avenue just West of State - near Holy Name Cathedral.  No idea if it is still there but I think they advertised a Philly Cheesesteak.  Also then it you go North of there on Wells, maybe - there was another hamburger fast food place - possibly Philly Cheesesteak there?  Hope that helps.  No idea if they can put mushrooms or not - you'll have to ask!

Sorry, nothing here even comes close!!  I'm a native Philly girl myself, and the cheesesteaks here are sorely lacking.  Most come with swiss cheese!  There is a place on Belmont Ave - Philly's Best, I think.  It's close, but definitely not an original.  A lot of gristle.

You miss these more and more the longer you stay here.  Chicago is a great town, though, just not for chessesteaks (or pizza, for that matter..)
