is it wrong to create another profile on yahoo!answers that only asks questions- so that the primary profile could answer their own questions, and pick themselves as best answerer every single time?

  1. By the rules it is wrong.  But Go ahead and do it, I don't care.  If you can do it, by all means.

  2. No.

    Morally, no.

    Ethically, no.

I think little of someone who would do that, but there is nothing "wrong" with the action.

  3. I'm sure it happens a lot in here.  I think those are the same people who boost their ratings in Yahoo games.  It makes no sense to me at all. It's not like they get anything from having a higher rating.  Personally, I don't give any more credence to an answer from a person with a higher rating than one from someone who's answering their first question.  The only reason I'm here is to share what I know. I've been through a lot in life and I think that sharing my experiences can help others.  That's really all I care about.  The rating means absolutely nothing.  I'm flattered when someone "connects" with me or chooses one of my answers as the best, but deep down I know that the best answer is usually a combination of several answers.

  4. Have you seen how many points these top-level people have????????

I think they probably already do it.

If they don't, then they seriously have no life whatsoever........

    Which one is more pathetic?

Now THAT'S a good philosophical question.

  5. Clearly you enter into term of agreement with YA when you create an account.

That being said your question amounts to asking is it wrong to deviate from your agreement?

Certainly there may be situations where the reasons for exploiting a false pretense serves to realize a deeper ethical goal.

Say for instance that a madman kidnaps someones family and demands that they become top contribute of the philosophy section on yahoo answers or they will murder your family.

But if such considerations are not in the equation then the question of should you agree to something and then renege on that agreement simply to suit some personal and arbitrary goal.

I believe that if you do not already know the answer to this question that it is highly unlikely that there is anything I can say that would demonstrate why this is not ethical.

  6. It's wrong to give a s%$t. Very wrong, and pathetic.

  7. I don't know if this is significant enough to qualify as "wrong." It seems too petty to be worth that term. I would call it sad.

  8. Unethical, Yahoo should handle the matter.

  9. Is it wrong to give a f**k about a completely arbitrary points system which doesn't mean a f**king thing to anyone living in the real world?

  10. According to my personal philosophy and the rules of Yahoo is completely incorrect.

    Good luck!

  11. In the final analysis.... cheaters never win.

    They only cheat themselves.

    What goes out, comes around.
