Yes. The universe is everything we know, and everything we don't know. Basically it's infinite. What we know is finite... and what we don't know is infinite.

The universe is, by definition, everything.

But this may not mean what you think it means.

The universe is everything, including the things we don't know about yet.

Before scientists figured out that some of those stars in the sky are actually distant galaxies, the Milky Way was considered to be the universe.  

Now we understand that there are many galaxies, and this large expanding group of galaxies is considered to be the universe.

If we ever find something beyond that....that will be the universe too!

Yes, the Universe is everything, and God is everything too. Do yourself a favor and throw the Christian Bible you have out the window of your car the next time you happen to be out driving around, and then go to the bookstore and pick up a few books on Taoism and Hinduism. I think both religions might make you happier in the long run.

The universe is "in the thing itself." The "thing itself" is existence. Existence is the "case."

The universe is not "infinite," as small writes. We know its size and shape in crude measurements, and we know it is expanding. That which is infinite cannot expand.

And if Adam wants easy questions, he isn't much of a philosopher; we continually seek to answer harder and harder questions. But let us never get to the pointlessness of the Scholastics in their final hours.
