Phoenix Coyotes' Radim Vrbata hoping to breakthrough in Game 5 against Los Angeles Kings -NHL Update
The secret to Los Angeles Kings’ triumph over Phoenix Coyotes seems to be pretty clear as they have managed to neutralise some top level opposition players in the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Western Conference Playoff Finals thus far, one of them being Radim Vrbata.
The veteran right winger has always been a source of goals and leadership for Phoenix Coyotes but in the crucial series against Los Angeles Kings so far, Vrbata has been silenced and unable to score a single point.
He was crucial in their series against Chicago Blackhawks in the quarterfinals and Nashville Predators in the semi-finals, but has been unable to break the barrier against Los Angeles Kings up until now as Phoenix Coyotes avoided elimination in Game 4.
With Game 5 fast approaching on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, Radim Vrbata is hoping to break out of the box and get some goals for his team along with show off some of his physical playing skills.
"Every time I feel like I might have a chance, somehow it is quickly taken away," said Vrbata. "The perfect shot just isn't out there. The ones that are going in, they hit people or sticks and find a hole, that's the way it is.”
"You have one good shift and you try to build on it and there is a penalty, or you get pinned in your zone and you can't keep it going. You feel like you have a good chance – finally, there it is – and you have two guys who want to block it. You just have to make sure you play good defense and contribute in other ways until you can make something happen," he added.
Ending off the regular season with 62 points (35 goals, 27 assists) in 77 games, Radim Vrbata needs to get back into scoring mode and put up some numbers because Phoenix Coyotes will go out only because of one reason and that is the lack of offensive output from their squad.
It will definitely be interesting to see Game 5 in which Radim Vrbata might just break loose and lead his team to victory to see Game 6 back in Los Angeles.
