Phoenix Coyotes dealing with uncertainties but hopeful of another successful season -NHL Update
The 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season was by far the best in history for the Phoenix Coyotes franchise as they topped the Pacific Division for the first time and nearly broke through to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Phoenix in all, worked hard and reached new levels in their franchise history as to becoming the squad of players that led the desert club to heights never thought to be possible before, and it was a major contribution from captain, Shane Doan, and his loyalty
to the team. Being one of those few players that stayed with Phoenix after the Quebec Nordiques became the Coyotes, Doan has given everything to the team, which is now in uncertainty over his return to the club for the upcoming season.
"Certainly getting stable ownership would push the organization forward, but my position is to take steps forward on the ice," Tippett told NHL.com last week.
Due to ownership related issues and financial instability, the long time captain and team leader became frustrated and is currently on the verge of signing with another team, setting the deadline to be September 15th, when the collective bargaining
agreement officially comes to an end, according to his agent, Terry Bross.
"Shane is going to sign a contract before the CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) expires on the [Sept.] 15th," Terry Bross said. "[Ownership has to] be done before the 15th, otherwise we're signing somewhere because we don't know what the new CBA is going
to look like, and I don't know if it's going to limit any scope of a contract, so we want to make sure we sign before then.”
San Jose Sharks are being seen as a major team going after the disgruntled captain along with Vancouver Canucks and Philadelphia Flyers also trying to get a chance at acquiring a top-level player in the form of Shane Doan.
Making strides last year was one thing but not having Doan on the team could be fatal for Phoenix Coyotes and drop them back down to the lowest points of the NHL ranking system, obviously being a shocker for not only fans but spectators that had vested hopes
in the franchise.
