Phoenix Coyotes shutouts Columbus Blue Jackets at 3-0 to gain crucial points in the Western Conference
The second last game of Thursday was played at the Jobing.com Arena as Phoenix Coyotes was up against Columbus Blue Jackets. The game saw both teams hoping for a win with Coyotes desperate to score crucial points as it looked to move ahead of the close battle
in the Western Conference.
The game saw both teams making a few shots at the start and the shots increased with the passage of time.
However, no goals were scored during the course of the first period.
The second period saw Coyotes coming out strong on offence and scoring twice during the period.
The final period saw Coyotes scoring once again to lead by three goals.
The period and the game ended with Coyotes winning 3-0 in the end.
Ilya Bryzgalov, goalie of Coyotes, was the star of the game as he made 28 saves during the game.
The game started in a flow which saw both teams not so strong on the attacks but they got better with the passage of time. Though there were several chances for both teams to score goals, they weren’t able to convert any of the chances into goals. At one
stage it looked as if one of the teams would certainly score but this didn’t happen.
The period ended with the scores level on 0-0. During the course of the period, Blue Jackets made 8 shots on goal while Coyotes made 9 shots on goal.
The second period began with Coyotes coming out strong on the attacks and they scored in the fourth minute to get into the lead.
The goal was scored by Michal Rozsival during a power-play from a well placed flick shot.
Coyotes faced a couple of strong attacks from Blue Jackets but they were the ones who scored once again in the 19th minute through Derek Morris to double their lead.
The period ended with Coyotes leading 2-0. During the 20 minutes of play, Coyotes made 10 shots on goal while Blues Jackets made 9 shots on goal.
The final 20 minutes of play saw Blue Jackets mostly dominating the game but Coyotes got better in the middle part of the period to score once again in the 16th minute through Mikkel Boedker’s well placed flick shot.
The period saw a couple of more shots on goal by both teams but there were no further goals as the period and the game ended with Coyotes winning 3-0 in the end.
During the final period, Coyotes made four shots on goal while Blue Jackets ended their night with 11 shots on goal.
