Phoenix Coyotes win 5-2 against Colorado Avalanche
Colorado Avalanche hosted another one of the games of Wednesday at the Pepsi Centre. The match saw the home team up against the Phoenix Coyotes. The middle table match was expected to be tight but things turned out to be very different with Phoenix Coyotes
coming up with a decent performance.
Colorado Avalanche matched the Phoenix Coyotes on a few occasions during the course of the match but Phoenix Coyotes being the more productive teams on the night emerged as 5-2 winners of the match in the end. Keith Yandle, defenseman of the Phoenix Coyotes
was named the star selection of the match after he scored a goal, made an assist and did some excellent work at the back.
The first period was all about the Phoenix Coyotes as their defence and offence both dominated the game. The only slip up they came up with was in the 5th minute for which they were punished. The home team, waiting for the opportunity capitalized
and scored through Ryan Stoa from a well placed flick to get into the lead.
Phoenix Coyotes continued to dominate the game and after the goal nothing was different. Phoenix Coyotes successfully levelled the scores with Scottie Upshall scoring the goal in the 7th minute. The constant pressure put on Colorado Avalanche
defence coupled with hard work in the middle resulted in the Coyotes taking the lead.
The goal was scored by Keith Yandle from a decent strike. The period ended with no further goals though Phoenix Coyotes made numerous goal attempts. Phoenix Coyotes led 2-1 going into the break as they made 14 goal attempts in the period and restricted Colorado
Avalanche to just 1 goal attempt in the period.
Phoenix Coyotes carrying the momentum into the second period managed to score through Eric Belanger in the 2nd minute to extend their lead to two goals. However, this time the Colorado Avalanche managed to come up with attacks to.
The game turned into an offensive battle which was hard fought by both teams. There were shots from everywhere on the pitch with the puck going to and fro on the pitch. Some breathless ice hockey was on display but unfortunately no goals were scored. The
period ended with Coyotes leading 3-1 as the teams went into the break. During the period, Coyotes made 14 goal attempts while Avalanche made 19 goal attempts.
The final period saw both teams making a slow start to the match as they waited for chances to come their way rather than relentlessly going on the attacks. Phoenix Coyotes extended their lead scoring once again. This time the goal was scored by Kyle Turris.
Though Colorado Avalanche scored through Matt Duchene from a superb strike in the 16th minute but it was Phoenix Coyotes who struck the final blow scoring in the 19th minute to seal the win. The goal was scored by Eric Belanger, who
bagged his second goal for the night.
The period and match ended with Phoenix Coyotes winning the match 5-2 in the end with Avalanche making 11 goal attempts in the period and Coyotes making 9 goal attempts.
