Phoenix Coyotes wins 2-1 against Dallas Stars in a shootout following a goalless overtime
Phoenix Coyotes hosted Dallas Stars this Tuesday which was also the final game of the day at the Jobing.com Arena where the home team won by 2-1 after a shootout.
The game was important for both teams as they were chasing the playoffs’ spots. Coyotes is in the cut while Stars needed the win to keep hopes of making it into the cut alive.
The game started off with both teams making shots on goal at the start with Coyotes and Stars both coming up with some decent plays.
The period ended without any goals but Coyotes dominated the second period in terms of shots on goal.
The home team scored the opening goal that put them in the lead but Stars was able to level the score as the game neared its end.
The final 20 minutes of play saw both teams constructing some decent plays again but they were unable to score any goals and the game ended with the scores level.
There were no goals in overtime but Coyotes emerged as 2-1 winners of the game after a shootout.
Ilya Bryzgalov, goalie of Coyotes, was named the star of the game as he made 44 saves during the course of the game.
The offence of both teams made a strong start to the game which saw them creating chances right from the start. There were several scoring chances for both the sides as they constructed some brilliant plays. Their passing, shooting and play-making was brilliant
as soon as the game kicked off.
The period had both teams coming across some easy scoring chances but they were unable to score till the end of the period. The period ended with the scores level on 0-0 with Coyotes making 8 shots on goal while Stars made 12 shots on goal.
Coyotes made a strong start and dominated much of the second period. With the brilliant start it made, Coyotes got into the lead with a goal in the 13th minute from a powerful strike. The goal was scored by David Schlemko.
Stars also constructed some decent plays and scored in the 18th minute through Jamie Benn during a power-play to level the score.
The period ended with the scores level on 1-1 as Stars made 18 shots on goal while Coyotes made 9 shots on goal.
The final period of the game saw both teams making shots on goal every now and then but they were unable to score goals from the chances they got early on.
Coyotes made 7 shots on goal while Stars made 13 shots on goal.
The period didn’t see any goals and ended with the scores level on 1-1. The game went into overtime but no goals were scored there but it was Coyotes who emerged as 2-1 winners of the game after a shootout.
