Phoenix Coyotes wins 3-1 against in-form league leaders Vancouver Canucks
The final game of Friday was played at the Rogers Arena as league leaders, Vancouver Canucks, played host to Phoenix Coyotes.
The game was important for Coyotes as they looked to score vital points to strengthen their position in the playoffs' cut.
The first period started off with Coyotes coming up with a decent display but Canucks eventually got going and dominated the game when it came to shots on goal.
The second period was pretty much evenly matched by the two teams as they piled up shots every now and then. The period saw both teams making quite a few shots on goal but they were unable to score any goals. The period ended goalless.
The final period saw Coyotes scoring twice with Canucks bagging a goal too. However, Coyotes scored once again to win the game 3-1 in the end.
Jason LaBarbera, goal keeper of Coyotes, was named the star of the game as he made 46 saves during the course of the game.
Coyotes made a decent start to the game which saw them firing shots on goal every now and then.
Canucks with the passage of time got better as their passing and shooting got better. Canucks dominated the game in the department of offence and defence.
The period ended without any goals despite some brilliant pieces of play constructed by both teams. During the course of the period, Canucks made 12 shots on goal while Coyotes made 6 shots goal.
The second period saw both teams making a great start to the game which saw them creating chances for themselves.
The passing and shooting of both teams during the course of the period kept on getting better but similar to the first period, they weren’t able to score any goals.
The period saw Canucks and Coyotes, both, evenly matched as they came up with more than a dozen shots each.
Scoring chances kept on coming for both teams but unfortunately they couldn’t score any goals. The period ended with the scores level on 0-0. During the course of the period Coyotes made 14 shots on goal while Canucks made 16 shots on goal.
The final period saw Coyotes making a decent start to the game which saw them scoring in the 14th minute through Radim Vrbata's brilliant backhand shot to get into the lead.
Coyotes managed to double their lead with another goal in the 15th minute which was scored by their captain, Shane Doan.
Canucks managed to score in the 18th minute through Christian Ehrhoff's brilliant flick shot.
However, Coyotes managed to score in the 19th minute through Lee Stempniak's brilliant flick shot and the game ended with Coyotes winning by 3-1.
