Phoenix Coyotes wins 3-2 against Dallas Stars as expected
Dallas Stars had the honour of hosting the 812th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series this Wednesday. The game saw the Dallas Stars up against the Phoenix Coyotes at the American Airlines Centre.
Phoenix Coyotes were trailing the Dallas Stars as the final period started and it looked as if they would be the losing side. However, Coyotes scored early in the third period to level the scores. The scores remained level at the end of regulation time taking
the match into overtime. During overtime Coyotes scored to notch up the win. Radim Vrbata, winger of the Coyotes was named the star selection of the game with his all important winning goal in overtime.
Both teams made a decent start to the match which saw them making a few goal attempts at the start of the period. On the other hand, Coyotes also settled after a few rough minutes in the start. Dallas Stars were the better team in the first half of the period
as they constructed some brilliant attacks and their shooting was also good.
Resultantly, they took the lead with a goal in the 11th minute scored by Steve Ott from a superb flick shot. However, momentum totally shifted after the goal as Phoenix Coyotes totally dominated the game in the department of offence to defence.
The Coyotes despite the away disadvantage controlled the pace of the game and successfully levelled the scores with a goal in the 19th minute scored by Michal Rozsival from a decent strike.
The period saw Coyotes making a few more goal attempts as the period neared its end but they were unsuccessful in scoring any more goals. The scores were level on 1-1 as the period ended. During the period Dallas Stars made 7 goal attempts while Coyotes
made 14 goal attempts.
The second period started off with both teams firing shots on goal early on in their search of a goal. From the looks of it, they wanted to score as soon as possible and get into the lead. This didn’t happen until the 6th minute when Dallas Stars
scored through Brad Richards to get into the lead once again.
The remaining part of the period was more of a defense dominated period with a couple of attacks made during the remaining part of the period. Both teams managed to come up with 7 goal attempts each during the 20 minutes of play but Dallas Stars scored what
proved to be the only goal of the period. Dallas Stars led 2-1 at the end of the second period.
The final period was a reflection of the first period with just the difference being the fact that Coyotes made a great start and came up with some brilliant pieces of play. Dallas Stars couldn’t get past the strong Coyotes defence but they managed to make
a few more goal.
Unfortunately for Dallas Stars, Coyotes scored in the 6th minute to level the scores with the goal scored by Mikkel Boedker. Coyotes though made some brilliant and strong shots failed to score any further goals and the period ended with the scores
level on 2-2.
Consequently, the game went into overtime where Coyotes scored through Radim Vrbata in the 2nd minute to win 3-2 in the end.
