Phoenix Coyotes wins 4-3 against Calgary Flamesin the final game of the day in a close battle
The final game of Tuesday was played at the Scotiabank Saddledome as the home team, Calgary Flames, played host to Phoenix Coyotes.
The game was important for both teams since they are caught up in a close battle for the playoffs despite being in the playoff cut.
It has become more like a death situation for all of the teams in the Western Conference.
The game started off with both teams making a few shots on goal but it was Coyotes who scored to get into the lead. Flames managed to score and level the scores.
Coyotes emerged strong in the second period and scored the lone goal to get into the lead once again.
The final period saw both teams scoring twice but it were the Coyotes who won the game 4-3 in the end.
Keith Yandle of Coyotes was named the star of the game as he scored a goal during the course of the game which was proved to be the winning goal in the end.
Coyotes were strong on the offence during the early stages of the game where they had numerous chances to get into the lead. Coyotes and Flames, both, exchanged some heated up plays but neither of the teams were able to score.
It took some time but Coyotes finally managed to score through Lee Stempniak's powerful strike to get into the lead in the 9th minute.
Both teams continued to come up with decent shots on goal and plays but no goals were scored.
However, Flames managed to score in the 19th minute through Olli Jokinen's quick fired shot.
The period ended with the scores level on 1-1 with Flames making 8 shots on goal during the period while Coyotes made 11 shots on goal.
The second period saw Coyotes firing shots on goal right from the start and they managed to score and take the lead in the 7th minute.
The goal was the only goal during the period which was scored by Eric Belanger from a decent backhand shot.
Both teams came up with quite a few shots on goal but they were unable to find the back of the net as the period ended with Coyotes leading 2-1.
The final 20 minutes of play saw both teams coming up with regular shots on goal with Coyotes scoring in the second and third minute to build a comfortable lead. The goals were scored by Keith Yandle and Michal Rozsival.
Flames managed to score through Mikael Backlund and Alex Tanguay from decent strikes in the fourth and 10th minute.
However, they still fell short by a goal as Coyotes managed to win the game by 4-3 in the end.
