Phoenix Mercury and Indiana Fever record wins: WNBA Roundup - 30 August 2012 (Part 2)
Phoenix Mercury vs. Seattle Storm:
Phoenix Mercury (5-19) took a sigh of relief when they ended their 10 game losing streak by beating Seattle Storm 76-63 on Thursday night.
DeWanna Bonner with a massive 24 points and 11 rebounds led the way for the Phoenix side and she was aided well by Samantha Prahalis (16) and Diana Taurasi (13).  This is the first time they have beaten Seattle Storm (11-14) this
season in four games.
For the Storm, who have now lost four out of their last five outings, Camille Little (11) and Tanisha Wright (10) were the major contributors but the biggest disappointment for the Storm was too many missed opportunities by their
star players like Lauren Jackson with 2 of 8 from the field and Sue Bird with 3 of 9 from the field, even though she ended up with eight assists.
A 13-2 run at the start of the fourth quarter by Mercury in which five players scored turned the game into their favour and even though the game hung in a balance at 69-66 for Mercury, their last push and success in containing
the Storm ended their match on a high note.
The Arizonian side will now play San Antonio Silver Stars at their home ground in Phoenix on Saturday.
Indiana Fever vs. New York Liberty:

In a game which hung in the balance for most of its part, Indiana Fever had the last say when they beat the New York Liberty 76-63 in Newark on Thursday.
Tamika Catchings scored 22 points for the Fever with Katie Douglas chipping in with 15 to secure their fourth straight win of the season. Fever’s (16-8) efforts were also realized by Shavonte Zellous who added 11 points to their
victory.
Liberty’s (9-16) main performers came in the shape of Cappie Pondexter and Essence Carson with 18 points each but a third successive loss sent them reeling to the number five spot in the Eastern Conference, just above the lowly
Washington Mystics.
The match would have been less close if it was not for a 12-3 run in 4:21 by Carson and Nicole Powell midway through the third quarter, when they were trailing by as many as 10 points. However, as the quarter neared its end, a
3-pointer by Zellous gave the Fever a four point lead going in to the final quarter.
A couple of free throws by Catchings and a 3-pointer by Douglas gave Fever a double digit lead which stayed until the end of the match.
Even though Liberty had the rebounding advantage of 35-25, the 21 turnovers by them gave the crucial advantage to Indiana who scored 20 points out of them to get the better of Liberty at the end of the game.
