Phoenix Mercury outlast Washington Mystics; Los Angeles Sparks thump Tulsa Shock – WNBA Roundup 20 June
A total of two matches were played on 20th June in WNBA with the Phoenix Mercury edging out Washington Mystics in the finals seconds and Los Angeles Sparks stream rolling Tulsa Shock for an easy win. Let`s round up the
proceedings of the day.
1. Phoenix Mercury versus Washington Mystics
In the first matchup of the night, Phoenix Mercury required 7 points from Sammy Prahalis in the final 2 minutes of the game to edge out the visiting Tulsa Shock 80-77. Prahalis finished the game with 15 points to go along with
7 rebounds.
Krystal Thomas chipped in with 15 points of her own and also grabbed down 6 boards in the game. DeWanna Bonner was the leading scorer for Mercury with 19 points and 7 rebounds. She collected her final six points by hitting two
back to back three pointers and set up the game for Phoenix.
For the Mystics, Michelle Snow tried her best to earn a win for her team by chipping in 21 points and 9 rebounds but her efforts were damped by the last second exploits of Bonner and Prahalis. Monique Currie also had a good game
while coming off the bench to score 20 points whereas Crystal Langhorne added 13 points.
2. Los Angeles Sparks versus Tulsa Shock
In the second match of the night, Los Angeles Sparks grabbed their second win in as many games by defeating Tulsa Shock 95-79. The win for LA ensured that they remain undefeated at the Staples Center this year.
Sparks performance was highlighted by a Candace Parker`s season high total of 33 points, a career high astounding 9 blocks and 8 rebounds in the game. Kristi Toliver also had a good game with 22 points and also had 6 assists to
her name.
The rookie sensation Nneka Ogwumike had another double digit scoring night with 12 points while DeLisha Milton chipped in with 15 points.
After making the worst possible worst start to the season, the struggles continued for Tulsa as they now fell to a win loss record of 1-10. Glory Johnson managed to lead the Shock effort 19 points while four other players crossed
the double digit mark, but were unable to stop LA`s prolific offence.
