Phoenix Park, Dublin, need info.?

I am visiting Dublin in few days, someone mentioned Phoenix Park, can anyone tell me what is it ? what is there ? how to ask for it and if I can park there and where it is located.

  3. Phoenix Park (in Irish, Páirc an Fhionn-Uisce) is a large park located 3 km to the north west of Dublin city centre in Ireland. It measures 712 hectares (1752 acres), with a walled circumference of 16 km that contains large areas of grassland and tree-lined avenues. The park is home to a herd of wild Fallow deer. The name is a corruption of the Irish fionn uisce meaning "clear water".

  4. Phoenix Park is situated on the northwest side of Dublin about 15 minutes from the City Centre. It was at one time the largest enclosed estate in europe. It has two mansions one of which are is the official residence of the Head of State Her Excellency President Mary Mc Aleese and the other, the official residence of the United States Ambassador to Ireland. It covers approximately 1750 acres. There are sports grounds for Gaelic sports like Gaelic football and hurling. The Dublin Zoological Gardens are also situated within its confines. The world renowned Guinness brewing dynasty some years back sold a property they owned named Farmleigh House to the government which was initially used for offficial functions of State but it is now mainly in public use because of its magnificent private garden. There are fallow and Sikha deer in its extensive woodland. There are a number of famous monuments probably the best known of these is the Welington monument named after the Duke of Wellington in honour of his participaton in the battle of Waterloo. Carparking is permitted so long as you stay off the grass. There are open-top double-deck busses available to  take you sightseeing on the hour through the Park. The Park is also the headquarters of the state police or An Garda Siochana.

  6. Pheonix park contains Dublin Zoo and huge areas of parkland. Our President also resides there. It has a huge Cross in the centre that was the focul point of the papel visit some years ago.
