Phoenix Suns President Brad Casper resigns – NBA Update
Phoenix Suns have been a team experiencing quite a few changes in the summer.
During this off-season, they parted ways with All-Star point guard Steve Nash among other roster re-constructions. However, the playing roster in not the only one undergoing changes. The
Phoenix Suns president of business operations Brad Casper has resigned from his position to divert his attention towards other business ventures outside the world of basketball.
"I enjoyed my time with the Suns," said Casper after making the decision. "It was a wonderful opportunity for me, but ultimately serving the Suns while continuing to juggle a portfolio of other business interests became too much.
I'm grateful to have worked with so many gifted professionals and I look forward to cheering on the team next season."
The decision from Casper puts an end to his nine month tenure with the Suns organization. He now will head over to the Grand Canyon University and assume his position among the board of directors while considering other options
as well.
Casper took over as president last October; however other business opportunities proved to be too enticing to stay away from. He had been the CEO of the Dial Corporation prior to joining the Suns and always had been a person more
inclined on the corporate side.
The man chosen by Phoenix management to assume the position left vacant by Casper is Jason Rowley who is currently the chief operating officer with the organization. He had been in strong contention to become president last October;
however Casper was given the position by managing partner Robert Sarver. At that time Rowley had been executive vice president for four years.
Casper is the second Suns president to have resigned within a year. Previous president Rick Welts resigned last year after handling proceedings for the past nine years. He went on to join the Golden State Warriors.
