Phoenix Suns Steve Nash keeping options open; wants an NBA World Championship – NBA Update
Legendary Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash is not closing any doors with regards to his future at the moment. The star said goodbye to the Suns after a long and loving association with the franchise and fans and is heading out for a new challenge come
next season.
The future hall of famer, at 38 years of age, is still in high demand across the NBA as his play making skills remain second to none. Nash is going to take his time making a decision and although he has set some pre-requisites for a future team, he is not
saying no to anyone just yet.
“Yeah, It sounds like a company line but my situation right now is I’m open to anything,’’ Nash said in an interview to the New York Post. “I really don’t know until the 1st what concrete opportunities will be there. But I’ll definitely look at every situation
comes my way Sunday and not close myself to any opportunities.’’
The question arose after Nash declared that he would be looking to get rewarded financially in his next contract, something that ruled out the likes of the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat. The Heat and the Knicks are two of the most high profile teams
trailing Steve’s signature, but both don’t have too much to offer because of limited cap space.
Nash though wants to be competitive, he wants to win an NBA World Championship, and that could keep these teams in the hunt.
“It’s nice to have that idea, I want to win a championship,’’ Nash said.
He will though be gauging pros and cons of any move very carefully. This is going to be Nash’s last role of the dice and the veteran point guard wants to make sure he gets it right.
“That’s also difficult. You can turn down a ton of money for a team you think can win a championship and there’s an injury and the chemistry isn’t right and you’re traded in six months. I have to put all the things into the hat.’’
