Phoenix Suns squeak pass the Milwaukee Bucks 107-105: NBA Recap
How do you celebrate your birthday at NBA?
The answer was given by veteran Steve Nash on his 38th birthday day as he netted 18 points and dished out 11 assists to lead the Suns to a close win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Suns have been unstoppable off late. They had defeated Atlanta Hawks a day before and up against the Bucks tonight, they struck again at the Bradley Centre. The finals score 107-105 in their favour.
The game was a well contested affair and swayed back and forth before the Suns recorded their victory, courtesy of a Nash driving layup with 5 seconds remaining. The result ensures that Phoenix Suns have now won their third consecutive
game, taking their away wins to 6 this season.
Six Phoenix players hit the double figure index on the night. Marcin Gortat was in the groove as he netted 21 and had 9 rebounds while Jared Dudley was also in the mix with 19 points. Channing Frye along with Michael Redd, who
was associated with the Bucks till last season, scored 14 apiece and Grant Hill added 13 points to his team’s victory.
The game started evenly, as both teams kept on scoring quickly until the Phoenix made a 9-0 run, with 5:29 remaining in the quarter. Trailing by 28-21, the Bucks inched back and ended the quarter with a slender deficit of 4 points,
34-30.
The second quarter was owned by the Suns as they unleashed an offensive fury. They opened a big lead of 13 points in this quarter as they netted 33 and kept the hosts at 20. Phoenix had an early 6-0 run and later in this frame,
Redd came up with 10 points which baffled his former team. With 67-50 the lead, Suns entered into the halftime confidently.
Milwaukee Bucks came back strongly in the third quarter. They started off with an 8-0 run and then pulled off a 9-0 spurt in the closing moments of the quarter. Unfortunately that wasn’t enough to claw off the deficit as the game
entered into its last 12 minutes with Suns still leading 88-81.
Bucks kept on pushing hard in the last quarter and took a 94-90 lead with 07:32 in hand.
The Suns bounced back with a 8-2 run to tie the game at 98. Brandon Jennings then executed a 3 pointer, his only point in the game with 3:11 left on the clock, putting the Bucks ahead by 101-98.
Dudley came up with a pair of free throws to cut the lead to one and with Nash’s 3 pointer, Suns took a 103-101 lead with 2:05 in hand. That was however neutralized by Ersan Ilyasova’s free throws tying the score at 105 each and
it all came down to the final 20 seconds.
After the time out, called by the Suns, Nash sent the crowd into frenzy by scoring a jump shot with only 5 seconds remaining in the game.
With the sound of buzzer Phoenix Suns grasped their dramatic victory.
Putting up a defiant show, 4 Bucks scored in double figures. They were led by Drew Gooden’s 25. Mike Dunleavy posted 17 along with a double-double from Ersan Ilyasova, who netted 17 and had 12 rebounds. Stephen Jackson was also
on song with 12 points coming off the bench.
