Phoenix Suns talisman Steve Nash receives Magic Johnson Award – NBA Update
After an excellent individual season with the Phoenix Suns, Steve Nash has been honoured with the Magic Johnson Award for his excellent on court performance combined together with his relationship with the media
and the fans all across the world.
The PBWA are also known for handing out awards like ‘the Rudy Tomjanovich’ award which was given to Doc Rivers this year and the ‘the Brian McIntyre’ award which was given to Dan Smyzek and his team, the Milwaukee
Bucks
The Magic Johnson award is given to players who are deemed worthy by the Professional Basketball Writers Association as being the best performer on and off the court. The news came out on Saturday that Nash has
been given the honour of being a worthy recipient.
"It's a privilege and honour to be recognized by the pro basketball writers, whose passion and skilfulness present the frontline of how our game is understood and perceived by our fans," Nash said. "Their role
in our sport can't be underestimated and it's an honour to be recognized by them along with the past recipients."
Nash was given the award on the basis of his good relationship with the fans and the media. He is also known for being very respectful towards the reporters and has considered them a significant part of all the
stardom that comes along with playing in the big leagues.
Steve has never been known for arguing with the media after having an off night and has always been very humble while answering questions whether it may be a press conference or a one on one interview.
Despite the hectic schedule of the NBA, Nash has also been known for taking out a well amount of time for his fans, who literally spend hours waiting just to get a glimpse of probably one of the best point guards
to ever grace the game of Basketball.
In recent years several other known figures of the NBA have received the honour which include the likes of Kevin Durant from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat, Brandon Roy of the Portland
Trail Blazers (Now retired) and his own team mate Grant Hill.
