Phoenix Suns veteran Steve Nash earns his 8th NBA All star appearance
Thirty eight year old swingman Steve Nash is easily one of the best players in the history of NBA.
Steve has been in the league for over 16 years now and in that period, he has achieved almost everything that a player covets, except an NBA World Championship. He probably would be retiring at the end of this season or the next, but whenever he decides to look back at his career, he will be a satisfied man.
Nash has the best shooting record in the league for a guard, has two MVP awards to boast, and is comfortably placed at the top when it comes to assists as well.
On February 26th, Nash would be reaching yet another milestone.
The point guard has earned himself a place in his 8th NBA All star game and not only this, with the feat he has become the oldest point guard in the history of the league to feature in this game.
"I had one scholarship offer and had a lot of ups and downs in the league," Nash said before the reserves were announced Thursday. "So I never want, at any stage of my career, to be unappreciative of the All-Star Game. In some ways, I'd probably appreciate it a lot more now, just knowing the stage of my career that I'm at and how I've worked to continue to play. I would definitely enjoy it."
The only other players in the history that managed to make in to All Star NBA teams at his age are the legendary duo of Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Nash, although many argue, is not in the same league, but there is little doubt that this charismatic guard set a new trend in NBA and all the point guards that we see dominating the league owe a major share of their knowledge and success to Nash.
Despite having much better averages, Nash failed to make a place in the All Star team last season as emerging players like Deron Williams and Russell Westbrook were considered over him for the slot.
