How much do you pay per minute if you do not have a plan for long distance on your home phone?

  2. In my area, the telco charges 7¢/min for USA/Canada calls.

    You don't need a LD plan to get reasonable rates.  

    Try a dial-around service like YAK.

    Just dial their gateway: 1010-YAK (1010-925). Their rates are 5¢/min to USA/Canada.  The charges will simply show up on your regular telco phone bill.  But, there are no contracts or obligations.  You only get charged for what you use.  Nothing to sign-up for.... just dial 1010-925... that's all.

    Years ago I used Yak when I didn't want to pay the higher rates of my local telco.  It is convenient and easy to use.

    But, over past few years I discovered VoIP as a much cheaper way to LD call.
