Question:

Phone Network in Netherlands?

Over in Netherlands (more specifically in Zeeland) what kind of networking options do i have for my phone?

Is it a good idea to bring an unlocked phone so i can choose my networking service and use a prepaid plan?

Or should I opt to buy a phone with a fixed service provider?

Also can you give an idea of the mobile operating companies available (and which is better)

thanks

  1. Hi Brian,

There's no need to bring an unlocked phone to the Netherlands, but if you want to you could. Prepaid is usually more expensive than a subscription provider, especially if you make a lot of international calls.

There's several operators and they all offer full national coverage and international roaming. The networks are of very good quality. 3G and 3G+ options are avalailabe if you want them.

KPN is the biggest Dutch player and my personal favorite, not the cheapest option though, but probably the best quality provider. They also operate under the "Hi!" brandname targeting young people/students.

T-Mobile is German and currently exclusively offers the I-phone, also very good quality afaik

If you bring your own phone check out Ben

Telfort says they're cheaper so more fun

    I hope this helps
