I recently purchased this new phone for my room. But, when ever I plug the phone line in to the wall all the other phones in the house stop working.. and I have no clue why it would do that. We've always had multiple phones inour house but for some reason no other phone will work when this phone is pluged in any ideas why? I believe it is a Vtech phone I bought for 20 bucks..

  1. listen to mike...

the V-Tech phone is DOA, like most Vtech, and uniden phones are.. get a panasonic... there is a short or defect with your phone..

  2. Try replacing the cable on the new phone - it may be defective causing a short on the line.

    or,

Does it work ok by itself when no other phones in house are powered up or plugged-in?

    or,

There could be too many phones on line at once loading down the line.

    or,

Are all phones 2.4 Ghz cordless?  It may be causing interference with the other phones frequencies (if cordless phones)

  3. I have heard a lot of horror stories with V-Tech phones. I don't know if you mean the ringer does not work, or the dial tone cannot be obtained. If it is a ringer problem, you may have multiple phones on line in the house, exceeding the REN, and not allowing the phones to ring. You can cure this by turning off the ringers on some of the phones.

  4. "BINGO" its a Vtech phone!!!

take it back and get a Panasonic......I bet someone else already brought this phone back....it might be used already and/or a reject....
