  1. Chances are you are using a cordless phone. A computer, especially the old CRT monitors, actually give off radio frequencies. When your cordless phone is in close proximity to your computer, some of the RF signals will be picked up by the phones electronics. The best way to deal with this is either use a corded phone by the computer, or when talking on the phone, leave the room the computer is in.

  2. Are you using cordless phones?

Is a cordless phone next to the computer?

The PC could be causing RFI interference.

If so, relocate the cordless phone as far from the computer as practical and see if that helps.

  3. Your goverment placed a bug in your phone :)

  4. When you connected your modem, it should have come with several filters that should have been installed on your phone outlets. You will need to have one plugged into every phone jack that you have a phone connected to. It filters out the modem noise from the phones.
