Ok this is a really dumb question but here it goes. My friend lives in Cali and I live in PA so it costs too much for us to call each other. If I got a phone card, would it cost anything at all for me to call her?

  1. When you buy a phone card you pay in advance for mintues and depending on how manyminutes you buy at one time they are cheaper.  SOmetimes when you use the card there is a base charge in addition to the minutes ~ read carefully about that.  But usually there is just the minute for which you paid .05 cents or .10 cents or whatever.  So when you call you friend all it will cost is per minute deducted from your phone card as you talk.

  2. Nope, dont use your cell phone. I Use my phone cards on a payphone or a land line
