Phone hacking?

is it possible for anyone to hack into my home phone line?

i dont know if that makes any sense but hopefully it does.

If you are referring to PSTN landline phone, yes.  But it is generally referred to as tapping your line.  Tapping a PSTN line has to be done external to your house and usually requires physically tapping into or splicing into the wires between your house and the phone company.  It is illegal unless the police or gov't have a court ordered approval to tap your lines.

    Otherwise, it may be possible for cordless phone signals to be picked up by other cordless phones and essentially tapped into.  Some cordless phones can potentially be picked up by scanner receivers.

    For VoIP, there are reports that it is possible to be hacked into your account and obtain fraudulent usage of your VoIP service.  There are also packet sniffers that make it possible to intercept VoIP packets and in essence listen in on conversations.

    With the right equipment, virtually any phone system can be tapped or hacked.  Unless of course you have your voice scrambled with high encryption techniques.
