Hey

My landline has suddently stopped working even though the internet is running fine. When you pick up the phone theres no dialing tone. I've found that when you unplug the telephone line and put it back it the phone will working normally if you make a call fast but after about a minute it will stop working again. i hope thismakes sense lol

what's wrong with it? is it the telephone line cable?

  1. Sounds more like the phone its self is bad. When you unplug it, it clears the line and you get DT. When you plug it back in, its knocking the line back out. Its doing the same thing as leaving the receiver off-hook. Try another phone. Thats why the DSL is still working.

  2. the phone you are testing with is defective, you need to replace that phone...

the phone is not going back "on-hook"

  3. i would just use another persons phone and call the phone company u r with

  4. heres what it could be:

    - youve got a crappy provider

-youve got mice/rats that are eating your connection cables

-your phone and internet connection servers are clashing--one takes more 'bars' than the other..

and yeah. thats what i think could be it..

    hope that helped dude.

  5. it sounds like there is a fault on ur line, i would call ur line provider and get them to report a fault

  6. the same thing happen to me right after a thunderstorm. I called at&t on the cell phone they ran a check on their system, and I lost my internet. it was two weeks before I had everything up and working. I miss southwestern bell they were always good to me.

I was told that I must have faulty phone wires, it turned out that at&t was the one that had the problem. so if you call them be prepared to lose your internet too. what I think really happened the operator pushed the wrong button on her computer and turn off my service. all they need to do is push a button, but they like to make you suffer.
