What is the pinout for the cable that connects the base to the handset on a telephone?

Hi Evan W:The Base to Handset cord is a 4 conductor( USA Bell System).The handset cord is a smaller plug than the mounting cord.The station manual shows red & black for transmitter & green & white for receiver. A 616d jack is listed & an H4DU cord(4,# of wires). I pulled a handset cord,clip down, looking into plug contact end, I see black,red,green,white. Without checking I assume this to be 1-4 left to right.The handset connects to a Network & other connections within the base unit. I hope this information is helpful.  exbelltel
