Question:

Phone says its 'in use' but it's not? I think someone might've connected to our line and is using it?

i've tried pressing every button on the phone but nothing works. i've tried to use my cell to call my home phone but nothing happens, no answering machine, no nothing. help?

  1. There could be a short in your wiring someplace, possibly caused by a rodent chewing through a wire... happened to me once, I solved the problem by switching the wiring pair from the green and red wires to the yellow and black unused wires at both the demarcation point (where the phone line comes into your home) and the "hub" in the attic serving the upstairs phones.

    another possibility is a defective device on your line... individually unplug each device on your line (including answering machines, modems, auxiliary ringers, etc) until the light goes out.


  2. check all of the other phones and see if they are out of the reciever. if not i dont know wat to tell u

  3. Unplug the phone from the electrical outlet.
