Phones and unwanted calls?

Question

Why is it that we can block junk mail, spam etc. Yet we can't block annoying phone calls that repeatedly call for the same marketing promotion? Or block anyone from calling us for that matter? I'm guessing there's a good reason but I sure can't think of it at the moment :)

In the USA you can have them remove your number there is a procedure. We have caller ID and just don't answer if I don't recognize the number or location. Some phones have the ability to block certain numbers.

You could be rude to them when they ring up and tell them you don't want their nasty products and to shove them where the sun doesn't shine..it's a bit mean but it worked for me :p

i don't see why i should have to pay extra money not to get calls about buggering kitchens!!

You should register your number with the "Do not call" list

I registered my number and pretty much stopped all junk calls!

you can go on the do not call list and you wont get marketing calls
