Question:

Phones on Disney Cruise?

I definitely need access to a phone while I'm on the 4 day Disney Cruise. I heard cell phones work in staterooms (I have Verizon Wireless). Is that true? Also, are there payphones on board where I can buy a calling card and use it??

What's the easiest way to call the states from a cruise and not be charged an arm and a leg! Thanks! :)

  1. Also check with Verizon for what the international rates will be.  It is pricey.  We were on the Wonder in June and I checked before we left with our cell provider and it was $2.75 per minute just in roaming charges.  Not including the per minute charge or any other fees.

If you can wait to get to port, you can buy a calling card there and use the pay phones at the port of call.  Disney does not have pay phones on board.  You can call from your cabin but it is very expensive.

No matter what, keep your calls short and as few as possible.  You can access email through computers the ship provides, but internet rates are also expensive.

  2. Hello! Yes, you are correct, as of June 2007 most major U.S. cell phone carriers now work on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. One thing to keep in mind is you will be charged international minutes, so I recommend (as does your DCL Cruise Packet that you will be receiving) keeping your phone off unless you're making calls, because you may be charged for data charges even if you're not making calls.

  3. It depends on where the cruise is going
