like farms, factories etc.

- how would it get into a creek?

when it rains?

- what problems does this pose?

  1. Phosphate comes from those sources as well as everyday household detergents. Phosphorus and Nitrogen are both nutrients that organisms need to live and grow. When these things wind up in aquatic systems in excess, they basically overfeed the algae, which grows out of control, uses up all the oxygen in the water, and the other life forms die. Some types of algae also release toxins. This process is called eutrophication.


  2. Phosphates come from urine and are a considerable problem when the hit rivers ans streams.
