Photo dilemma I am having...?

Just got a new camera, and this is my first attempt at editing a picture...

Could you guys give me your opinion? I am going to send it into a calendar magazine for a local animal shelter to see if they want to use it...

Its a picture of my female corgi Dallas, and I touched it up a little bit with a photo editing tool..

oh that's really pretty good.

it could use more color but the fact that it's lacking color makes it really soft looking. i also like how you blurred the backround.

you could keep going with the whole soft thing and make it black and white. i think that would be pretty. =]
