Photo sequencing with Iphoto?

After re-formatting our camera memory stick, (Sony cyber-shotDSC-W80) the camera started numbering from DSC00001 again. Since we already have photos from the past labeled with the same numbers, iphoto won't download photos from the camera. We have had some problems downloading in the past, but it had been working fine for a while. What to do?

Can you put them in a different folder? It is probably trying to put them in the original folder and overwrite the original photos, thus bringing up the error.
