Question:

Photo slide show programmes that give better results than Windows Movie Maker?

I have made several DVD's of photograph slideshows with background music with pretty good results using Windows Movie Maker but I'm fed up with the programme crashing so I'm looking for a good alternative.

I have been recommended 3 other programmes but was wondering if anyone has any opinions on them or in fact if there are any others.

Photostage slideshow software.

MemoriesOnTV 4.1.0

Photo story 3.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance.

PS: As I only do this as a hobby, "Free" would be best.

  1. Google Picasa. You simply select the photos from the library that Picasa creates, then click Create then Movie and it saves a simple movie slide show (with an animated panning effect and fades from one pic into the other at a rate you choose). It saves the movie file into your Pictures folder as an AVI file. Easy!

I guess you would still need to use some video editing software to add a sound track however.

Of course, Picasa can do so much more with your photos. What's more it's free!

  2. I've recommended Photostage in the past too because it is simple to use, not to mention free; but it is a rather basic tool. Photostory is fine as far as it goes but I'm not certain if dvd burning is included for free; in Vista, it has been totally superseded by Windows DVD Maker which is often overlooked; see here

You might want to give DVD Slideshow GUI a try; packed with features and free
