Question:

Photo storage.?

I have loads of photos of me friends and family, old ones and new ones.

I had nowhere to put them so I decided to put them into an old shoebox.

I need ways of decorating the shoebox to make it look nice and pretty.

I'm quite a girly girl and I'm also slightly preppy. Though sometimes I am slightly scene.

I'm thirteen.

I have a baby pink bedroom but I may paint it either baby blue, baby yellow or baby purple.

I like pastel colours and bright colours.

Any ideas how to decorate the box?

  1. Decoupage your shoeboxes by taking all kinds of fun pictures, stickers or whatever you like. Glue them onto your box, allow them to dry and then coat them with a layer of craft type varnish or even spray them with a can of spray varnish, like Krylon. I had a large jug that I decorated this way when I was a teenager and wish I had it now, it was so fun! Just go through catalogs, teen magazines and even through your own photos for items to place on your boxes. Go online and request yourself free catalogs like this one:

  2. Hey I think the best idea is to go to a store and buy you one of those already decorated photo storage boxes they are about the size of a shoe box and are just the size for pictures also if you are going to write on the back of them then be sure and buy you a pencil a gris pencil I think it is called and it wont harm the photos and also with photos you have to be care the type of paint and tape you use with them as it can damage them

so have fun and be careful

  3. Old shoeboxes aren't really a good place to store your photos - they contain chemicals that will hurt your pics over time. It would be much better to go to your local craft store, home improvement center, or even camera store and get a couple of boxes specifically made for photos (they should say 'photo safe' or 'archival' on them somewhere). Then, you can pick something that matches your room well.

I had some pictures damaged this way and would be sorry to see it happen to someone else.

  4. I like your idea of covering it with music.  Any song will do, or choose a favorite of yours.

Decorate the inside too with craft paper.  This way the photos don't touch any paper not archival safe.

Make large tabs to use as dividers between photos.  Maybe one to store photos by the year taken, or a tab for family, friends, pets, holidays, so you can quickly find the photo you're looking for.
