  1. I'm not sure about vinyl**, but there are some transfers/decals that are designed to be put onto dark surfaces rather than light ones so the background won't affect the color or saturation of the transfer.

Here are two, but the kits at the fabric store may have their own as well (just look for something like "for dark fabrics" or "opaque" on the packaging):

**some of the transfers require heat to attach to fabric and/or to set the colors so not sure about doing that to vinyl... you could try just adhering this type with permanent white glue, and not washing it perhaps if that's the case?

OR... you could just basically "decoupage" a color *photocopy* of your image onto the bag (or use a color laser printer, which is also toner rather than ink).

Then using a decoupage medium (Royal Coat or ModPodge... or just permanent white glue thinned 3-4 to one with water... or perhaps even "textile medium" from the craft store), apply it under and over the image... once dry, apply several more coats letting each dry thoroughly before doing the next coat; don't wash for at least a week.

  2. Try LazerTran you can get from www.lazertran.com, use can use inkjet or lazer printer to print photo design.  Just dip in water and peel, no heat required.

  3. If it is vinyl that would be hard because it might melt if you use iron transfer paper.  Transfer paper would also make the fabric stiffer, wear off faster (especially since you will use a diaper bag alot), and the green of the bag will change the color of the pics. Your best bet would be to print the pics on fabric and sew it on (use Bubblejet Set and your printer).  The problem with putting pic on stuff yourself is that the green will probably distort colors (thats way sewing on the piece of fabric would work because then the color isn't interfering).  You could also do silk screening, but it is more expensive because you have buy kits, frames, silk and paint.  It also wouldn't be in color.
