Photo viewer program stuck on ''initializing''

loading program for Brookstone photo viewer to transfer photos to digital photo ornament.... seems to load fine...when click to start program...it just flashes by...by repeatedly clicking I can see the program opening up and I can see it is stuck on ''initializing''...

I am running Windows XP
