Photographers, how would you pose us?

Here's the deal... my husband (A US Navy Sailor) is leaving for Bahrain in early December. I am pregnant with our first and will be pretty far along and showing by then (yes, he'll miss the birth, but it's not like it's the first time this has ever happened to a military couple).

I know that I definitely want him to be in uniform, but I want something that will be meaningful and touching, without looking like I want everyone to feel sorry for me because he's leaving while I'm pregnant... if that even makes any sense...

I'll probably put it on our Christmas cards.

I'm going to have a friend take it that works at the same studio as me, and she always asks me what I have in mind when we take pics.

Thanks!

  1. You could do the "Hollywood Preview" of the Reunion"

    Or you could be holding up a phone to your stomach and he's on another phone.

    Keep it light and focus more on the return, rather than the departure.

  2. This maybe a little cheesy but it could work.  Have you ever seen the classic B&W photo from WWII.  Basically it's a girl kissing a solider on his return home from the war in the middle of the street. Here's a liink to the photo I'm talking about.

    You could do something like that maybe.  It could be a symbol of the love you have for one another and instead of doing on a crowded street you could do in front of your house and if you have a tree in front yard tie a yellow ribbon around it.  Kind of a way of saying even though he has to leave you'll still be there when he gets back.

  3. If you don't want your pregnancy to show, have him sit on a straight back chair.  You stand behind him and lean over to put your arms around his neck, so your hands are in front of him. Then you put your head next to his and smile!

    Or just put your hands on his shoulders and bring your head next to his.

  4. Not sure on the exact pose, but you could try to do something kind of sweet and funny. nothing serious, but beautiful, like in your home. So that it will look happy. I understand what you are saying about not wanting to make it too sad. Sorry about your hubby, but you have the right attitude about him leaving, by keeping up your spirit.

  5. i like arthurs idea of hte phone-- that would be very cute!

    bahrain is a great duty station {my hubby was there in 05-06 }

    are you going to have him in blues?   if so, then wear a contrasting color, and a plain background, to bring all the attention on you

  6. Have you guys sitting next to each other. Your at different levels and he in uniform closer to the bottom and have one hand on your tummy and the other on his shoulder and have him with his hands in his lap.and sit catty corner. It hard to explain.

    Or what my cousins did was have her stomach showing and him on his knees kissing her stomach and she looked down at him and his eyes were closed.

  7. Just post some  good pics of you, some of your husband, and I will put them together with photo shop
