Question:

Photography Problems...

I'm a Photography major and during the summer I took no pictures at all and I feel I lost motivation. Does anyone have like, ideas for pictures I could take just to get back into the swing of things. And don't say pictures of downtown because I have no way of getting down there right now.

Thanks.

  1. All I can say is go Macro.  Taco shells up close and personal.  Cereal from a bug's eye view.  Got a pet...photograph those eyes.  Find the texture in the toilet paper or paper towels.  Candle flames or the melting wax of a candle.

Also go dark/spooky.  How the frige looks with the door closed (just hold down the light button (the door usually does this when its closed...you may have to look for it).  Ghost Bathroom USA....all you need is some fog (steam from the shower with the door closed) and some mood lighting (candles) with a slow shutter speed (makes the flames seem that much more intense).  Got any dolls or know someone closeby who does....those things in the right light can be really creepy and make excellent pictures.

Finally when all else fails head outside....grass, bugs, animals, plant life, clouds, you know the typical.

Overall remember photography is fun and should be about having fun.  If there is something you are interested in take photos depicting that interest.  Got a favorite game or tv show....take pics that symbolize them.

Be creative and don't be afraid to push the boundaries....after all a shot not taken could be a prize winner.

  2. anything to do with natural surroundings is an easy start to getting into the swing of it again =], like an open flower on its own really close up or away or it could be a whole bunch but focusing on one, the sky with the sun (if there is any sun that is x3),anything that looks unusual or putting things together to make a nice contrast..i don't know xP, good luck! xxxxx
