I received a canon slr as a gift and am starting to get into photography. I took a class at the local community college but it was actually a waste of time and i didnt even learn much. I was hoping someone knew of a good book that could help me out to get started with this while i look for a better class to take.

  2. The best twenty bucks I ever spent and a book I recommend on my workshops is "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Petersen

Great book and simple to learn from it.

However, the first book to read from cover to cover is your camera's manual

  3. The best book I have come across is, Readers Digest Complete Book of Photography. It's a large hardback book, yello cover. It has pictures that compare and contrast. A ton of useful information. Go to your library to see if they have a copy, check it out, trust me they don't get too technical.
