Question:

Photography contract? Examples?

I'm hiring two photography students from the community college to take photos at my wedding and reception in December. Does anybody have links to example contracts or things they wished they could have gone over in advance? The wedding will be in a rural area, so I just want to cover this stuff. We will own the negatives, although we also will sign releases for them to use any of our photos in their portfolios.

  1. I agree.  Its usually the photographer that makes the contract.  (I do photography on the side).

  2. A contract is really something the photographer should draw up for you. If not I would at least have something in writing that says how much and when payments are due. Plus provide them with a list of people and in what combinations you want photographed

  3. www.theknot.com has some info on contracts

Here is a sample contract for you:

If you have a lawyer you may want to have him/her review it before you have anyone sign to verify that it is a legal binding contract.

    Good luck!
