Photoshop 7.0 how come i can't draw/color on my new layers

Question

i tried to do like i saw on the tv where you do the eyes on a layer, do the skin on a layer, do the clothes on a layer, do the background on a layer, etc so what am i doing wrong? please go over this in detail. thanks i'm still new to photoshop

You might have the mode in black and white rather than RGB or CYMK- though i would suggest RGB since computer colors are much wider in that mode than CYMK. RGB is red/green/blue, and CYMK is cyan/yellow/magenta/black

otherwise, you might have the wrong tool, working on the wrong layers, etc. for each individual sections, you can haver other layers for each color so that you can change them later and keep the layers organized. It really comes down to practice, practice, and more practice.
