Question:

Photoshop CS2: Can't render Difference Clouds?

I'm following some tutorials on another website that require the use of Filters>Render>Difference Clouds, but for some reason, I can't seem to use them! I'm starting off with a Black filled background just like it says.

Can anyone help me?

  1. The only thing I can think that would stop you was if you were not in

RGB mode. I open a new window, make the background black, use the filter and voila.

But it won't work unless you are in RGB mode. Look under image/mode.

edit: Well there's your problem. That particular effect requires that you be at 8 bits.

If you need to be at 16 bits (color correcting usually requires this) switch to 8 bits, make your difference clouds, then switch back to 16.

    Bingo, problem solved.

Just curious, why are you are 16 bits. Are color correcting, or working a color problem of some sort?
