Photoshop help . the boxes are grey! ?

all the way to the left on photoshop theres 2 boxes with the colors

those . mine wont let me use colors whenever i pick a color it turns grey ! make it stop!!~

You are in the wrong mode...

Go to Image >> Mode and select RGB. Odds are, you are in Grayscale.
