Question:

Physical Education, seeking advice!

Are there any on-line colleges that offer bachelor degrees in Physical Education? I want to specialize working with kids and also doing something with health. So I figured that becoming a PE teacher would be the right choice, unless there is another profession that allowed great working hours and good pay? I am looking for one that I can completely do on-line until time to go to a school to do the internship and whatever I need to do. I know you can get other jobs besides a gym teacher with a degree in Physical Education. So does anyone know of any on-line colleges or any follow up information regarding my question? Thank you all and may god bless you!

  1. Idon't actually know of an answer to your question, but I do have some advice.  It is okay to study physical education (Kinesiology), I did that, but you should really broaden your capabilities by not studying health with it.  Here's the thing, PE jobs are hard to get, and health jobs are probably even more scarce.  You are going to want to have a different teaching field as sort of a "backup plan".  For instance, I majored in Kinesiology, but minored in Math since that is a very high need area.  I ended up getting a job teaching Math and coaching.  Also, from what I know and have been told, if you study Kinesiology and pass the test to get certified to teach PE, you will have no problem passing the Health test to get certified in that as well.  I graduated with people who were Kinsiology/Health, and they had a tough time getting a job.  The Kinesiology department (especially the Pedagogy specialists) have even begun to discourage students from doing the Kin major/ Health minor thing.

Don't mean to discourage you from what you want to do, but having a core teaching subject makes you much more marketable/valuable as an employee.
