Question:

Physical Education or Guidance/School Counselor career?

I currently possess a Bachelor's Degree in HR Management. I have worked for about six years and want a career change. I am interested in helping young people. Being a Phys Ed teacher/Coach would be something I am very interested in along with being a Guidance/School Counselor. I would love to help young people discover what they want to do with their lives and help them take the necessary steps to get there. Which one would be a better path to take? If anyone has any career advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

  1. Hi Anthony,

There is no "better" that anyone but you can identify. My suggestion is to home on on what sort of interaction you want to have with kids and what outcomes you want from that interaction, because both will be different for a coach than for a counselor. That should steer you in the right direction, or at least give you some more questions to ask. Best of luck! There is an infinite amount of happiness out there and a piece of it belongs to you.
