  1. Developing motor and fine skills

    Motor skills are like running, kicking, etc

    Fine skills are like drawing, writing, tieing shoe laces etc.


  2. GROSS MOTOR:

    5 years -

    Plays ball games well.

    Can walk along on the balancing beam.

    6 years -

    Rides a two-wheeled bicycle.

    Kicks a football well.

    Makes running jumps.

    7 years -

    Can climb and balance well on the apparatus

    Hops easily on either foot, keeping well balanced.

    FINE MOTOR:

    5 years -

    Can draw a person with head, trunk, legs and eyes, nose and mouth

    Can sew large stitches.

    Good control of pencils and paintbrushes.

    6 years -

    Can catch a ball with one hand.

    Writing hold is similar to the adult.

    7 years -

    Writes well.

    Can sew neatly with a large needle.

The physical development of each child is different.  Your child @ 5 yrs old maybe able to read and recognize certain letters, and numbers; whereas another 5 yr.old maybe better at the physical activities such as; running, climbing, sports etc.. and other children may have the perfect balance between motor and fine skills.  I hope this helps you out.
