  1. you need to make a right triangle.   one leg would be 3.8km,  and one would be 2km.  use the pythagrious' (can never remember how to spell...)  theory a^2+b^2=c^2   to find the hypotenuse.  3.8^2+2^2=the magnitude of the displacement.   try to figure it out with that.  ill put the answer lower down if you still cant get it...

    Right triangles like this can be used to solve a myriad of physics problems,  you should get to know them :)
